Know Your Limits
When you're trying to farm effectively, don't try to be Superman. Taking on a difficulty that's too much for your character is a good way to cut down your farming speed substantially, and you'll increase your repair bill besides. Farm on a difficulty that allows you to quickly move through packs without needing to slow down or focus on their individual abilities. A good metric for knowing you're on a good difficulty is being able to one shot trash mobs, allowing you to quickly plow through the unimportant monsters to get to what you actually care about-- the elites.

Skip Trash
Non-elite monsters make up the majority of what you'll be seeing in both Bounties and Rifts, but if you're on the correct difficulty (see above), it should be relatively easy to blow through these unimportant mobs to tackle elites and champions. Though in some cases it's unavoidable to face some trash mobs, you can quickly clear them out before getting back to your farming. While in Diablo 3 originally there was a slight benefit for killing every monsters in the form of extra rolls on legendaries, with Loot 2.0, there is a built in system that ensures players get approximately 1Legendary per hour, meaning that time spent on these weaklings is time wasted. Additionally, while in Nephalem Rifts, your countdown timer is based on the number of monsters slain. By saving your kills for elites, you're maximizing the amount of rolls you get per Rift, saving you Rift Fragments per legendary acquired.

Split Farm
When farming Bounties, always be sure to do so in a group, having each player go for a different bounty simultaneously. If you're following tip 1, each player should be able to clear each bounty alone relatively quickly, making multiple players beside one another redundant. Instead, each player should take on a different bounty or act, multiplying the speed at which you'll acquire Blood Shards and Horadric Caches by the number of players present.

Normal, Hard, Expert, Master, and Torment 1 level bounties have the same chance to drop a legendary. Once you up the difficulty to Torment 2 and higher, the chance to have a legendary drop scales up with Torment 6 having the highest chance to have a legendary item in your cache. When doing split bounties, keep in mind the other players with you. If you are in a group with well geared players (typically players that can clear Torment 5 & 6 rifts without help from other players), you can most like start doing Torment 2 or Torment 3 rifts in a reasonable amount of time.

Complete Bounties on Normal in Most Split Farm Groups
Paired with the previous tip, you should always be farming Bounties on Normal difficulty. Bounties should only be completed to earn Rift Keystone Fragments to unlockNephalem Rifts, or to quickly farm Horadric Caches. By split farming bounties on normal, you increase the speed at which you earn these rewards. Normal, Hard, Expert, Master, and Torment 1 bounties have the same chance to have a legendary item in the Horadric Cache. Starting with Torment 2, the chance to gain a legendary item is higher with Torment 6 yielding the highest chance of getting a legendary item. Farm Nephalem Rifts Whenever Possible
Nephalem Rifts are the "end game" of Reaper of Souls' farming. The Rifts are fast and extremely densely packed with elite and champion mobs. More notably, though, Nephalem Rifts have a 100% increased chance to drop legendary items, multiplied by difficulty you are on. Whenever you're not farming Rift Shards or split farming Caches, you should be pushing through Nephalem Rifts as quickly as possible.
