1. Diablo 3 is exactly what an on line game should be in 2012: simple fast furious fun, playing now instead of later. You start the program, you hack and slash, you get the fun and 4 different challenges according to your own mood.

2. The grouping in this game takes 2... milliseconds. You choose the quest line at which you want to enter, the difficulty and wham you are into a group without any delay.

3. Player numbers are irrelevant. The game has 50.000, 100.000's, 250.000's to let you group with, instantly. No messing around with 500 or 1000 people stuck and strangled on one server. Your real battle tag friends can join wherever they are... NO random douche bags if you don't want them.

4. The crafting and economy system is better than in most mmorpg's. Why ? it is based per continent (around 1 M players), the best weapons, gear and mats will be crafted and traded. And the player economy is the big overall strategic picture behind the game.

5. Diablo 3 is pretty much Farmville meets dungeon crawling meets gear chase / crafting within an economic time frame and a incredible frantic speed of on line game play.

Add in the elements of hardcore (you die = game over) and later implemented PvP and you pretty much cover the fast internet play of modern games with a very different twist.

Oh and compared to D3, the old D2 looks very dated indeed.

I am afraid a LOT of mmorpg's will get hurt by this game. MMORPG's are way too slow these days to satisfy the new needs of modern FAST internet gaming.

Traditional MMORPG's tend to be the next generation of cardboard counter war games of the 80's.

I guess a lot of mmorpg people will not like this trend, but let's face it: there are better things to do with our lives than standing around for hours waiting for an imaginary boat or virtual boss respawn...

And hating will not offer any solace either.
